Two days Egg-re-preneurial Workshop on “AndeKaFunda” begins at FVSc& AH Shuhama

SRINAGAR: Director Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir, Ms. Purnima Mittal today inaugurated two days’ Egg-re-preneurial Workshop on“AndeKaFunda” Induction, Introduction & Production at Faculty Outreach Centre FVSc& AH, Shuhama on 24th March 2022. The workshop is being organized by Division of Livestock Production &Management in collaboration with Faculty Outreach Centre, FVSc& AH under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai and directions of Prof .Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi Director Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir. DirectorPlanning & Monitoring, SKUAST-Kashmir. Prof Haroon Rashid Naik was the Guest of honour while DeanFVSc& AH, Prof. M. T. Banday, Co-chaired the inaugural function and was accompanied by Prof. Azmat Alam Khan (OSD to Vice Chancellor) &Prof. I. U. Sheikh (Head Div. of LPM) on the dais.
In his inaugural address, DirectorAnimal Husbandry emphasised the need & importance of such type of workshops for improvement in Poultry production in the Valley and hoped to have similar programmes at Department level as well. Ms. Mittal highlighted the efforts of Department in enhancing its visible impact in Poultry sector for an overall development of farmers associated with this field. Prof. Haroon Naik in his address stressed upon exploring the newer ways and means of utilizing the vast potential in Poultry sector for bringing a positive developmental change in this region. He appreciated the efforts of organizers in conducting a pertinent programme for a breakthrough in Poultry Production.
Prof.M. T. Banday, Dean FVSc& AH who is also the Chairman of workshop briefed the audience about the existing Poultry scenario of the region and its scope for improvement. Prof. Banday held the opinion that Poultry Sector has a promising future with existing technology available in and around the globe.
Earlier, Prof. Azmat Alam Khan, convener of the event presented a brief overview of the workshop with regard to the sessions to be held during the workshop. Prof. AzmatAlam assured the participants and other dignitaries of all the support from organizers in making the event a great success. Prof. I.U. Sheikh, the Organizing Secretary formally welcomed the participants and other dignitaries in the workshop while Dr. Henna Hamadani, Assistant Prof. Div. of LPM hosted the event in an elegant manner at the Faculty Outreach Centre with Prof. Abdul Hai proposing the official vote of thanks.
It is pertinent to mention that the eminent and renowned experts of National repute in the form of Prof. P.K.Shukla (Registrar and Dean PG Studies, DUVASU, Mathura), Dr. P.S. Mahesh (Joint Commissioner GoI and Director CPDO Bangalore),Dr. Kamna Barkataki
(Director CPDO-NR Chandigarh),Dr. Mukund Kadam (Associate Prof.& Head, NagpurVeterinary College, MAFSU) and Mr. Ricky Thaper (Treasurer, Poultry Federation of India) will be delivering and interacting with the participants in the two days’ workshop.
The workshop being held at FVSc& AH, Shuhama is sponsored by National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) of SKUAST-Kashmir and has diverse participants ranging from Scientists, representatives from Industry & support agencies, Entrepreneurs & Progressive farmers along with students. The workshop mainly aims to focus on understanding the difficulties and challenges in layer farming in Kashmir region and the way forward to mitigate these issues for a sustainable poultry farming.
