RAMBAN: The District Health Society today organized an awareness workshop here at Government ANMT School Ramban under the aegis of National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP).
The participants were sensitized about adverse effects of the use of Tobacco on the human body; the provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) -2003 and the community level awareness activities prescribed under the National Tobacco control programme.
The workshop was held under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mohammad Fareed Bhat.
The District Health Officer Ramban Dr. Rajinder Kumar and other speakers of the Health Department spoke on the topic.
The speakers informed the participants about the burden of tobacco use in India including J&K.
They also briefed about NTCP and Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003.
