Srinagar: The world pulses day was celebrated by SKAUST-K on 10.2.2022 under the directions and able guidance of hon’ble Vice chancellor Prof. Nazeer Ahmed Ganai at different stations of the university including DARS Rangreth, Budgam and different KVKs. Director Extension Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi in his message highlighted the importance of consumption of pulses in the daily diet as an important dietary ingredient for nutritional security and for attaining requisite improvement in daily health and livelihood. The events were sponsored by ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulse Research Kanpur.
Under All India Coordinated Research Project on pulses Srinagar centre, DARS Rengreth held a series of events to commemorate the world pulses day which included online/ offline lectures, farmer’s interaction and students competitions along the lines of this year’s theme “Nutritious Seeds for sustainable future”.
Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Kashmir division and UT of Ladakh also celebrated the world pulse day by organizing different events and programmes both in online and offline mode to infuse awareness among the masses in general and farming community in particular vis-a-vis food and nutritional security.
KVK Srinagar celebrated the World Pulses Day at KVK Campus with the theme” Pulses to Empower Youth in achieving sustainable Agri food System” and organised many events on the occasion to create awareness about the importance of pulses in nutritional security.
Similarly KVK Shopian in collaboration with the Government Degree College, NRLM and ICDS organised a webinar through Google Meet Platform titled “ Nutritional Benefits of Pulses.
KVK Kargil celebrated the day at its campus which was attended by acting Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil. He assured that all necessary interventions will be taken to restrict pest infestation in Suru area of the district. .KVK Zanaskar and KVK Leh also celebrated the day by organising different programmes and events on the occasion.
