Dir Agri Kashmir initiates Valley wide campaign against unregistered Insecticides

Srinagar: Director Agriculture Kashmir (Controller Insecticides UT of Jammu and Kashmir) Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal Monday initiated a valley wide campaign to curb the inflow of unregistered insecticides in Kashmir Division.
In this connection, Director Agriculture reiterated the Department’s commitment against the sale of unregistered products (Insecticides). Expressing his views, Mr. Chowdhary asked the concerned enforcement officers to ensure that no unregistered product shall be allowed for sale in Kashmir Division. Director Agriculture said to serve the farmer’s interests on and of the field is Department’s paramount objective and therefore keeping a vigil on the movement of inputs like insecticides/pesticides and ensuring that farmers get the genuine product which have a major impact on the overall success of agriculture enterprise.
Director Agriculture asked the Enforcement Wing of the Department, Plant Protection Officer Kashmir and Agriculture Chemist Kashmir to work in close coordination so that the consumers (farmers) get quality products at their disposal. Director Agriculture impressed on the concerned officers to uphold the provisions of Insecticides Act 1968 and make sure that the Act is adopted and implemented in letter and spirit.
Earlier, on the instructions of Director Agriculture Kashmir (Controller Insecticides UT of Jammu and Kashmir), a team comprising of Deputy Director Law Enforcement Javed Iqbal Samoon, Assistant Director Law Enforcement Feroz Ahmad Shapoo, District Law Enforcement Inspector Pulwama along with the officials of Enforcement Wing inspected the godowns of M/s Himalaya Enterprises at Bus Stand Pulwama and seized a quantity of 37,800 litres of unregistered Tree Spray Oil (TSO)/ Horticulture Mineral Oil (HMO).
