Two day Pencak Silat championship concludes at GDC Pampore

PAMPORE: Pampore bagged first position followed by Anantnag and Shopian achieved third position South Kashmir Pencak Silat Championship held here at Government Degree College Pampore on Wednesday.
About 300 players both boys and girls of different age groups from different parts of South Kashmir participated in the two days championship.
SSP Awantipora Mohammad Yousuf was the Chief guest on the closing ceremony.
Principal GDC Pampore Dr Prof Seema Naaz was also present on the closing ceremony.
Speaking on the prize distribution ceremony SSP Awantipora, Mohammed Yousuf, congratulated the Pencak Silat association for organizing the event.
He also encouraged the players to take the sports with determination.
“Those of you who qualify here will be selected for the nationals,” he said, adding that police will provide them all assistance and platform for nurturing their talent.
Principal of GDC Pampore, Dr Prof Seema Naaz congratulated the organisers and police for organizing the event.
SSP Awantipora along with Principal GDC Pampore, SDPO Pampore distributed cash prizes,medals and certificates among the winners.
General Secretary Indian Pencak Silat Fredration Mufti Hamid Yaseen said, “Our aim is to stop youth from drug addiction and turn them towards sports and games, it is a good thing that students of different age groups took part in the championship.”
The two day championship was organised by South Kashmir Pencak Silat Association and was sponsored by Police district Awantipora in collaboration with GDC Pampore.
