Official seizes vehicles used for illegal excavation of soil in Pampore

PAMPORE: Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din carried out a raids against land mafia at Konibal village of Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
The revenue officials told Kashmir Reader that a group of chronic illegal soil excavators were involved in the offence against whom cases were lodged in past too.
The Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din with assistance of three Lumberdars conducted raids in Konibal village to check illegal excavation of Saffron land.
During the raid 5 dumpers, one L&T and a trawler were seized on the spot, officials said.
Police, Geology and Mining department officials were called for legal proceedings against the wrongdoers.
” A raid was carried out in Konibal village where some persons were excavating soil from Saffron land. The raids was carried at 11 PM and Continued till 5 AM,” Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din told Kashmir Reader, adding that machinery used in the illegal excavation was seized on the spot.
He said that police and Geology and Mining department were informed and asked to register case against the land mafia.
“This is the same spot from where land excavation was done in past and for which FIR was registered against 13 persons including land owner along with levy of huge fine,” he said, adding that despite the action they were again excavated saffron land for soil.
He told Kashmir Reader that the land mafia members used to excavate soil on Sunday.The local residents of Pampore appreciated the administration for cracking a whip against land mafia.
