Srinagar: Police in Handwara have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling on Baramulla-Handwara highway near Wangam Kralgund intercepted a suspicious person identified as Abdul Hamid Sheikh son of Ab Rashid resident of Kachloo. During search, 12 grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kralgund where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 78/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation has been initiated.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused person is a hardcore drug peddler & involved in supplying drugs among youth of the area.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making continuous efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
