SRINAGAR: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Wednesday presented an Urdu play ‘Jheel Bula Rahi Hai’, at Tagore Hall here.
The play was produced by M/s Actors Creative Theatre (ACT), a not for profit organization.Written by late Ali Mohammad Lone, the play was been directed by Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan.
The cast included Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan (Father), Barkat Kaur Rattan (Mother), Zubair Farooq (Son), Syed Zenobia (Daughter) and Tahir Najar (Son-in-Law). The back stage team included Gul Javaid, Abdul Ahad, Faisal Chakku, Idrees Bukhtiyar, Mir Majaz, Shahid Mushtaq, Syed Shayaan and Chowdhary Rabiya Shafiq.
The story revolves around the lives of members of a fisherman. The family has lake Wular, the largest freshwater lake in the Asian continent, as its home. The play depicts the struggle of this family on several fronts.
The chief guest on the occasion was Bashir Assad and the guest Honour was S. Humayun Qaisar.While speaking on the occasion, former director All India Radio (AIR) Srinagar, Syed Humayun Qaiser said that such activities demand a little bit of craziness. “And Mushtaaque is filled with that craziness to achieve the unique targets. Such activities can’t be done unless one thinks out of the box and is dedicated to achieve it,” he said.
Journalist, researcher and author Sh. Bashir Assad said that such performances deserve the best appreciation. “The entire team has put a lot of effort into making the set and then stage the play. Everything has been done perfectly. I hope more such plays will be held in future which will create a platform for the Kashmiri youth in the field of theatre,” he said.
The senior artists of the valley like Tariq Javaid, Zameer Ashai Mushtaq Bala, and Shabir Mujahid spoke on the occasion and appreciated the artists for the wonderful performance.
The enthralling performance witnessed applause and cheering from the audience.
Creative director ACT Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan said he is happy to organize this play. “Such plays will boost the confidence of the aspiring actors and will give them a chance to learn more about this art very professionally and thoroughly,” he said.
“I will work tirelessly to promote art and culture in the valley and create a space for budding artists,” he added.
