68th Cooperative Week celebrated at Town Hall, Shopian

SHOPIAN: A district level function to commemorate Cooperative Week’, themed ‘Strengthening Cooperation among Cooperatives’ was today organized by the Department of Cooperatives in collaboration with Cooperative Societies of district Shopian, at Town Hall, here.
The week-long celebrations commenced from 14th November, 2020, and the function was organised under the Chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Mohammad Yousuf Mir.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC stressed on the importance of strengthening cooperation among cooperatives in the changing scenario besides advised participant cooperators to focus in the field of dairy, fishery, Horticulture and other potential areas and hoped that the department will make every effort in making a viable and vibrant cooperative Movement in the district.
The Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, highlighted the achievements of the Cooperative Societies and informed that 36 Cooperative Societies and 6 secondary level Cooperative societies are presently working in the district. He said that during the current financial year the department had provided 1661 metric tonnes of fertilizers, 8.59 lakh litres of Kerosene oil and in addition to medicines worth Rs.2.10 Crores to the people of the district.
He added that the overall business turnover during the current financial year is Rs.3.40 Crores.
