BANDIPORA: A 5-year-old girl sustained minor injuries after a leopard attacked her in Bazipora village of Ajas Tehsil in Bandipora district on Friday evening.
Witnesses said that the minor girl was outside her house in the village when a leopard attacked her. However the girl was rescued by a group of people who were alerted by the cries of the girl. The leopard was chased away by the locals.
Officials said that the minor girl has been identified as the daughter of Mushtaq Ahmad Khatana, was evacuated to a Sumbal hospital for treatment.
The locals have appealed to the wildlife department to visit the area to ensure the wild animal is trapped to avoid any untoward incident in future.
