Leopard attacks sheep flock in Beerwah, 7 dead, many missing

BUDGAM: A leopard has killed seven sheeps during the intervention night of Thursday and Friday at the Arwah village of the Beerwah tehsil in central Kashmir Budgam district.
The local residents from the Arwah village told the Kashmir Reader that seven sheeps have been killed by the leopard during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, however, five sheeps went missing. These sheeps belonged to the Gulzar Ahmad Chopan resident of the Arwah village, a shepherd by profession.
Mohammad Yousuf , Block officer wildlife Control Room told the Kashmir Reader that seven sheeps have been killed by the leopard. However the few sheeps which were kept in the shed by the Sphered are still missing.
“After we have received information regarding this incident, the wildlife team reached spot immediately, we have searched the whole area find did not find any presence of the leopard in the area,” He said
He said that we have fixed the cage in that spot where the incident took place in the village.
In the last month, the wildlife department has captured a leopard alive from the Arwah Village.
