Department of Management Studies BGSBU Organizes debate competition

Rajouri: Department of Management Studies, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University organized an online debate competition to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 152nd birth anniversary. Vice Chancellor Prof Akbar Masood congratulated the department for organizing the debate competition. Prof. Akbar mentioned that the foundation of Indian ethos for Management is founded in India’s cultural heritage which provides certain key principles and beliefs that are important in today’s managerial environment. Prof. Akbar congratulated the winning teams and hoped that such events would be the regular feature of the department for the holistic growth and development of the future corporate leaders.
Dean School of Management Studies Prof. Iqbal Parwez congratulated the department for organizing the debate competition. On the occasion, two debates were held on the topics -Does the Indian value system hold its importance in the present business scenario? And do ethical principles play a role in modern lifestyle? The debate competition was started with a welcome address by Mamta Choudhary, Head, and Department of Management Studies. Uzma Jan, a student of MBA 3rd semester, set the motion of the debate. Some participants argued for the motion and some against the motion. The participants used various skills like overstatement, definition, rhetoric, irony etc to convince the audience. The debaters displayed confidence in presenting before audience and jury members consisting of three faculty members namely Dr Parvez Abdulla, Dr Radha Gupta and Dr Danish Iqbal Raina of Department of Management Studies. At the end, on the basis of audience poll and jury votes, Uzma Jaan and her team including Manoj Verma and Tajamul Beigh of MBA 3rd and Huzaif and his team mates Jazib, Preeti and Gazanfar of MBA 1st semester declared as winner of the debate competitions. Dia Mahajan of BBA was declared as the most active participant from the audience. The proceeding of the programme was done by Bismah Shah of MBA 3rd sem and the programme culminated with vote of thanks. The programme was attended by the faculty members, Scholars and Students of the Department of Management.
