Leopard cub caught in Sebdan Budgam

BUDGAM: The wildlife department on Friday captured a leopard cub alive in Sebdan area in Central Kashmiri’s Budgam which is four kilometres away from the Haran village where 10 years old boy was mauled to death by the leopard on September 17 this month.
The locals from the Sebdan area told the Kashmir Reader that after they have saw the Leopard roaming in the area, they informed the wild life department, after which the leopard cub has been caught alive.
Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Block officer from the Wildlife Control room Chadoora told Kashmir Reader that after they have received the information regarding presence of the leopard in the Sebdan area the wildlife team captured leopard cub alive from the area, “The cub has been put in the cage and the cage have been put in the same place where cub have been caught alive. In case the mother of leopard cub will search her baby that will help the department to capture the leopard alive without shooing her, “He said.
“Regional Wildlife Warden of Kashmir, has order killing of the leopard after the killing of the child, but we are trying the leopard should caught alive without injury to anyone, “Bhat said.
He added that after the incident took place in the Haran village, the wildlife department has already fixed cages across the district and has deployed the wildlife teams from other control rooms to cathch leopards alive across the district, so people will get relief in the district.
