College of Temperate Sericulture SKUAST-K holds interactive session with fertilizer dealers

Srinagar: Dealers/farmers from different districts of Kashmir Valley including Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian visited College of Temperate Sericulture, Mirgund today for a field visit.
The beneficiaries are undergoing 15 days short term certificate course on integrated nutrient management and fertilizer input and pesticide use being conducted by Directorate of Extension under SAMETI.
While interacting with them, Prof. M. F. Baqual Associate Dean of the College briefed beneficiaries about the hazards of excessive use of chemical fertilizer and the pesticides along with the deleterious effects they bring with them. Instead the effectiveness of Integrated Nutrient Management where synthetic fertilizer could be reduced was discussed.
The scientists of the College including Dr. I. L. Khan and Dr. Shaheen Nagoo interacted with the participants and took them round the college showing different experimental plots. The importance of sericulture was also stressed upon so that they could also take up sericulture as income augmenting venture.
