Pampore: Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited various saffron growing areas of Pampore. During his visit to different fields he took stock of intercultural operations, rejuvenation of saffron corms and other activities being undertaken in the fields.
During the visit Director Agriculture talked to a number of saffron farmers and took their feed back about the various recent interventions introduced by the department.
While expressing his views director agriculture said that the department is committed to revive the past glory of saffron sector. He said the department is working to increase the reach of this most expensive spice to the newer areas, markets and to showcase it to the National and International marketing platforms.
Director Agriculture asked the concerned officers and the officials of the department to work in a cordial and coordinated atmosphere with the saffron growers and bring all the latest global interventions in this sector to the farmer’s field so that this unique spice could attract more and more youth of the valley towards it.
