Macadamise Gumbroo-Ichehama road: Locals appeal Government

BUDGAM: The people from the two villages of the Beerwah and Khag tehsil demanded the Roads and Buildings department to carry macadamisation of the Gumbroo- Ichehama Road as the road has been never macadamized after the government provided the road connectivity from Gumbroo to Ichehama.
The locals from the two villages including Gumbroo and Ichehama said that due to the potholes and bumpy surface, they have been facing a lot of difficulties for the last 10 years.
Abdul Hamid Shah, one of the local residents from the Gumbroo village told the Kashmir Reader that the government has started the work to provide road connectivity from Gumbroo- Ichehama. In the year 2003 the government completed the Granular Sub base (GSB) of the road and no further upgradation was carried out.
“ Due to the bad road condition in the two villages, the local residents from Gumbroo and Ichehama are facing difficulties as this road has never been macadamized by the government for the last 18 years,’’ Shah said.
He said that during rain or snow-starting the road turns into a cesspool due to which the locals are not able to use this road
Khazir Ahmad Mir, another resident said that the school children’s from the Gumbroo village who are studying in the Government High School Ichehama are going by foot to the school as we have an only middle school in the village, during the rainfall times school, children’s are facing a lot of difficult to reach the school on proper time which resulting students are missing their classes.
“Due to the potholes in the road, the vehicles are suffering damages and the bad condition of the road also poses the risk of accidents,” Mir said.
Mir said that the government should think the difficulties of the people which they are facing in the village due to the dilapidated condition of the road in the village.
The locals have requested the Lieutenant Government Manoj Sinha, Chief engineer R&B department and Deputy Commissioner Budgam Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza to look into the matter and approve the macadamization from Gumbroo- Ichehama road, so the people will get relief in both villages.
Assistant Executive Engineer of the R&B department Khag, Abdul Aziz told the Kashmir Reader that we have Submitted DPR (detailed Project Report) to the higher authorities, when the DPR will get approved, the macadamization work will be started upon the road.
