Potholes on NH near Sempora irks commuters

PAMPORE: Presence of a potholes in Srinagar-Jammu National Highway near Sempora Panthachowk area of Srinagar is causing inconvenience to commuters.
Various residents informed Kashmir Reader that a patch of of the national highway has been eroded due to leakage from pipe of Tangnar lift irrigation plant from more past one year.
“The leakage resulted in a pothole which hampered smooth movement of transport,”
a local resident, Naseer Ahmad said, adding that they have appealed authorities of Tangnar lift irrigation to rectify the leakage but they didn’t take any action till date.
He told Kashmir Reader that one lane of the national highway has been blocked by the pothole and commuters use the other lane which cause routine jams in the area.
Another resident, Abdul Rashid, told Kashmir Reader that this is not a local link road but Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
” Just see the condition of this road, no body is bothered to rectify it,” he said.
He said that this spot has triggered many accidents in the past and continues pose a threat to commuters.
He and other senior citizens urged authorities to take immediate steps to repair it.
Concerned AAE of Tangnar water plant, Tariq Ahmad assured that they would rectify the leakage in a couple of days after the Eid ul Adha.
