KUPWARA: The significance of Covid vaccination is showing remarkable growth across district Kupwara as people are voluntarily coming forward for vaccination.
Ghulam Ahmad Malik, 50, from village Pattergund in Villgam Medical Block of Kupwara district has approached his nearest vaccination centre to take the 2nd dose of COVID vaccine, yesterday. Malik said that he has already taken first dose of the vaccine andñ has come for the 2nd dose of vaccination as he has got a telephonic message from the local health institution. Earlier, he revealed that he had visited the centre for three times to confirm if his turn for vaccination has come nearer. He said all of his family members including his spouse;two sons and others have also vaccinated themselves against the Covid pandemic.
Malik said , “I was suffering from some chest infection and was experiencing slight pain in chest since long, but after vaccination, I am feeling better, rather well”, adding that the vaccine is most beneficial for the over all health and well being of the people .He appealed people of all age groups to come forward voluntarily for vaccination to save themselves and the society from the pandemic.
On the other hand, District Administration, Kupwara headed by Deputy Commissioner, Imam Din, has waged a war against the COVID pandemic by involving all stakeholders including Health, Education, ICDS , Revenue and police department and has been working as a collaborative effort.
People were repeatedly being requested to adopt Covid appropriate behaviour, wear masks, keep social distance , for which, a vigorous awareness campaign has been launched in print, electronic and social media under the aegis of Information Department.
The Deputy Commissioner is himself monitoring the situation and used to visit various vaccination centres to ensure cent percent vaccination of the target population.
As per latest data given by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara in a press conference, 69.35% of above 45 year aged population has been vaccinated in the district, besides, 17.80% people in the age group 18-44 have also been vaccinated.
The present situation, as per Deputy Commissioner, is satisfactory as the positivity rate has declined to 0.5% whileas, recovery rate has gone up to 98%. Out of a total 13924 positive cases, 13598 have recovered. As many as 161 cases are active as on date. Whileas, the district recorded 165 deaths so for.
Deputy Commissioner again reiterated his appeal to follow COVID appropriate behaviour religiously and honestly to keep the pandemic at bay.
