Case lodged against timber smugglers for attacking forest employee in Pulwama

Pulwama: A case has been registered against forest smugglers for causing injury to an employee of Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Sheikh Ayoub, DFO, Shopian Forest Division told Kashmir Reader that FIR has been registered against the timber smugglers for attacking and injuring a forest employee in Romeshi Forest Range.
” The attackers have been identified and an FIR was lodged against them in the concerned police station,” he said.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that an employee of the forest protection squad was injured late last night when their team had a scuffle with timber smugglers in Aglar Pulwama area of Romshi Forest Range.
The injured employee has been identified as Hilal Ahmad who has revived an injury in his head.
The team was on routine night patrolling in the area after receiving inputs about timber smugglers being active in the area.
The officials said that they managed to seize horses and illicit timber from the smugglers before they fled.
They added that one employee was injured by a smuggler taking advantage of the darkness.
