House gutted in Uri fire incident

BARAMULLA: A residential house gutted in a fire incident in Zahampora village of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday night.
Officials said that fire was broke out in the residential house of Lal Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz Sheikh of Zahampora village of Tehsil Boniyar, in Uri sub division of Baramulla district on Tuesday late evening, the local people reached the spot and rescued the family members and the fire tenders were called.
They added thata vehicle of fire fighters reached the spot and doused the flames, however the house was gutted completely.
The local people said that they have been fighting for a fire station in the Sheeri area for decades and the government also gave their nod, however the department has yet not established a station for over hundred villages. They said that if there was any fire station nearby, they could have saved the property, but unfortunately till the fire tender from Baramulla reached the spot the house was changed into ashes. They appealed to authorities to establish a fire service station midway in Sheeri so that people can take a breath of relief.
