HAJIN: A culvert along the Hajin – Sopore road has become an accident spot because of it being narrow.
Located at Bonikhan Mohallah of Hajin town in North Kashmir Bandipora district, the culvert was built six decades ago with locals saying that no effort was made to add on additional facilities to widen the stretch at this trouble spot .
Locals said that this has become a major bottleneck which impedes the flow of traffic with space for only passing one vehicle. Several accidents have occurred on this spot being very narrow and vehicles facing problems while passing over it.
They said that the road is wide enough but what irks commuters is the small culvert on a busy stretch.
The vehicles are passing easily on main roads but once one reaches near the culvert the driver becomes hesitant and even many slow down frequently landing in the nearby canal.
