CEO Baramulla issues show cause notice to St. Joseph’s School for charging fees unfairly

BARAMULLA: The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla issued a show case notice to principal Saint Joseph’s higher secondary school Baramulla for charging annual fee and allied charges for lockdown period from the students enrolled in his institution.
In an official letter number CEO/Bla/pvt school/2946-48 dated on 03-06-2021, CEO mentioned that his office received several complaints from the parents of the children enrolled in your institution that your school is charging annual fee, computer charges and allied charges other than tuition fee.
However as per the instruction issued by the government only minimum tuition fee is to be charged during lockdown period. It would not be out of place to mention here that your institution followed the government direction till February 2021. But from March 2021 the said direction has been violated.
The letter further reads that, before action under rules initiated against your institution for violating government orders, you are directed to explain your position in this regard within two days, failing which it shall be deemed that you have nothing to say in your defence.
Saint Joseph’s higher secondary school is a lone missionary school in north Kashmir and thousands of children/students are enrolled in this institution.
Meanwhile parents have also complained that not only Saint Joseph’s school, other private schools in the district are also forcing parents whose wards are enrolled in their institutions to demand all charges including travel charges from them. They appealed to the administration to look into the matter.
