DC B’gam briefs media about status of Covid-19

BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today briefed the media about the status and measures in operation to prevent further spread of Covid-19 virus in the district.
Divulging the details, the DC said that there were a total of 10669 positive patients under observation and treatment in the district, among them 6333 have since recovered and have been discharged to their homes.
He said the recovery rate in district Budgam has touched almost 60 percent and simultaneously they have increased daily testing side by side and positive rate of infected patients has come down to 9.9 percent and downward trend is recorded day by day further.
The DC said with strict imposition of lockdown measures and implementation of other SOPs in containment areas, the positivity rate has come down gradually and is now at 58.8 percent.
Regarding other measures, the DC said that they have established call centres at various spots where infected patients can call round the clock for any assistance and medical care. He further said, from today vaccination for 18 to 44 age groups has been started across the district at 23 session sites.
He said in addition teams have been constituted to trace out all vulnerable persons particularly pregnant women, destitute, orphans, specially abled, old age citizens and bring them to designated centres for vaccination.
Regarding Covid care at panchayat level, the DC added that all logistics will be there very soon as equipment is coming to the facilities at all selected panchayats.
The DC on the occasion hailed and appreciated the cooperation and support public is envisaging for strict imposition of all SOPs. He said to curb inconvenience caused to the general public in seeking permission for marriages, online marriage permission has been started in the district.
