Srinagar: A review meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendras was held today at Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir under the chairmanship of Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension. Vice Chancellor, SKUAST, Jammu,Kashmir Prof. J.P. Sharma was the Chief Guest. Heads of KVKs, and scientific staff of the Directorate attended in offline and online modeadopting all COVID-19 SOPs. At the outset, the entire staff of the Extension wing welcomed Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi as new Director Extension/SAMETI of the University. All Heads of KVKs presented the activity report of the year 2020, action plan 2021-22, salient features and major constraints.The Programme Coordinators from Nyoma, Leh, Kargil, Zanskar and Kulgam participated in online mode.
Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi in his address emphasized on adopting extension practices beyond production, framing the programmes keeping in view the priority areas envisaged by Atma Nirbhar Bharat. He advised Programme Coordinators to adapt practices of modernization of Agri-Extension, ICT, pot and terrace agriculture. He applauded KVKs for their strenuous efforts in agricultural development and guided them for focusing on the areas like Post Harvest Management, value addition, integrated farming systems and demand based technology transfer.
