Three along with forest staffer held with illicit timber

Baramulla: An employee of Jal Shakti or PHE department was held by the police with drugs in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday evening with 30 drug peddlers apprehended during April month.
A senior police officer said that Showkat Ahmad Khan son of Gulam Mohammad Khan resident of Nadihal Rafiabad who is an employee of PHE department was arrested with 650 grams of contraband charas like substance during a naka checking at Janbazpora by a team of Baramulla police. In this regard a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is on.
Meanwhile, a forest guard among three timber smugglers were held by the police on Friday and recovered large quantity of illicit Deodar timber was recovered from their possession in Rafiabad area of Baramulla, officials in the police said that a team of police station Panzla raided in the nearby locality where they recovered large number of logs from a newly constructed house, in this connection three people including forest guard Jahangir Ahmad Khan of Ladu Rafiabad was held on the spot, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered against the culprits and further investigation is on.
