HAS Remembers Prof Mashal Sultanpuri

Hajan:A function was organized by Halq e Adab Sonawari Hajin in the memory of famous writer, poet and translator of Kashmiri and Urdu languages Prof Mashal Sultanpuri. The event was presided over by former chairman of Center for Sheikh ul Aalam Studies, Kashmir University, critic and prolific writer Prof. Bashar Bashir while as Folklorist, Historian and former Director of Academic Staff College, University of Kashmir Farooq Fayyaz was the chief guest.
President Adbee Markaz Kamraz Muhammad Amin Bhat was guest of honour in the event.
Recitation of Holy Quran and Naat-e Rasool Maqbool(S.A.W.) set the event out of the chute.
In his welcome address, Shakir Shafi, President of Halqa Adab, welcomed all the guests and outlined the future projects to be carried out by Halqa Adab. He also mentioned the challenges being faced by the Kashmiri language and literature. He urged all literary associations to work together for a bright future of Kashmiri language and literature.
In his keynote address, Dr. Aziz Hajini, Patron of the Literary Circle Adbee Markaz Kamraz and Convener of the Kashmiri Advisory Board at Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, asserted that Prof. Mashal was one of the greatest writers, researchers and linguistic volunteers in the literary world.
He said that the name of Mashal will remain alive as long as even a single Kashmiri outlives him. Expressing concern over the stalled work in the Cultural Academy, Dr. Hajni pressed upon the writers to work for literature and language beyond personal interests.
At the event, Shahbaz Hakbari presented a thought-provoking essay on the literary achievements of Professor Mashal Sultanpuri.
Muhammad Amin Bhat in his speech , President of Adbee Markaz Kamraz, recalled the close relationship between Professor Mashal and AMK.
In his sermon, the Chief Guest Prof. Farooq Fayaz calling Hajin as a symbol of love, linguistic volunteerism paid homage to Prof. Mashal in eloquent words and described him as a great linguistic,literary and scholarly personality.
In his presidential address, Prof. Bashar Bashir recalled Prof. Mashal and appreciated his services. Vice president of the literary function and educationist Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad presented a vote of thanks.
