Block Diwas held at Pampore, DC Pulwama given warm welcome

Pampore: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Baseer-Ul- Haq Choudary Wednesday visit Saffron town Pampore on the eve of Block Diwas being held at Townhall Pampore on Wednesday.
This was his maiden visit to Pampore and first Block Diwas Attendance after taking charge of Deputy Commissioner in Pulwama
He was received by a huge gathering and various delegations during the block Diwas programme in the Townhall where large delegations had arrived to share and solve problems being faced by the people in Saffron town Pampore and other other villages.
The Deputy Commissioner Pulwama was accompanied by SSP Awantipora Mohammad Yousuf , Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora Zaffar Husson Shawl, Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din, BDO Pampore Aflaq Ahmad and all district officers.
Executive officer Municipal Committee Pampore Mohammad Iqbal, DDC Candidate Tazima Akhtar, Municipal Committee Chairman Mohammad Yaqoob Malik, Zonal Education Officer Mushtaq Ahmad, AEE PDD Javaid Ahmad, AEE Jal Shakti Nawaz Ahmad, Drug Inspector Pampore Tasaduq Hussain and other officers of various departments were also present during the programme, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The delegations included Fallah Behbood Committee Pampore, Idara Auqaf Islamia Trust Pampore, Gujjar and Bakerwal, Conference, Traders Union Pampore, Stone quarry association and others.
Gujjar and Bakerwal Conference general secretary Choudhary Mohammad Yasin Poswal demanded repair of Degree college Pampore road which becomes a nuisance for students during rains.
He also demanded repairing and macdemisation of the road leading to the shrine of Sufi saint Wahab Sahab.
He also apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the effect of ban on livelihood of people related to stone quarry.
Fallah Behbood Committee Pampore led by G M Pampori demanded construction of a tourist cafeteria at Drangbal where land is available and tourists would halt and entertain themselves in the Saffron fields and other beautiful landscapes in and around Pampore town.
He also apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the bad condition of drains and lanes in the Pampore town, the condition of which became worse after winter snowfall.
Idarah Auqaf Islamia Trust Pampore led by secretary general Mohammad Sultan Shah demanded a dialysis centre at Pampire Sub District Hospital so that the needy patients would not have to tire themselves by frequent visits to Srinagar hospitals.
He also demanded parking slot for the vehicles ferrying patients in the hospitals so that no patient’s life is risked due to traffic chaos.
Traders Union led by Abdul Majeed Bhat apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the shopkeepers whose shops had been damaged in September 2014 floods but have not been compensated for the loss they incurred during those disastrous waters.
Saffron Growers Association President Abdul Majeed Wani put forward various issues of Saffron growers particularly demanding inquiry about a road being carved out through saffron fields near the Spice Park Dussoo.
Many other delegations from Samboora, Ladhoo, Khrew, Wuyan and other areas of Pampore apprised Deputy Commissioner about various water schemes that have not been completed since last decade and defunct Pump stations watering paddy fields in Patalbagh and Samboora areas of Pampore.
Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing and told the delegations that the block diwas was held just to know the genuine problems of the citizens and the problems would be solved on priority basis.
He urged upon officers to complete the works within the shortest possible time .
He directed the concerned Officers to exhort for decongestion of Pampore town besides declaring the hospital zone a No – Parking zone.
He appealed people to register for COVID vaccination and be the agents in mitigation of COVID pandemic. He said vaccination is open to people of age group of above 45 and those we with specified Comorbidities.
He also directed the concerned Officers to be proactive and remain accessible to the people so that the purpose of the initiative is fulfilled. He added that an Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) counter has been introduced in the Block Diwas and issues related to electoral registration shall be redressed besides counters for registration under JK – Sehat Scheme .
He added that registration counters and help desks for COVID vaccination have been introduced in block Diwas at all designated locations in Pulwama.
The Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudhary also distributed Sporting kits during the programme.
While talking to media persons on the side-lines of Block Diwas he said that people must see the face of administrators and aporise them about their problems so that the authorities could provide basic facilities at the earliest.
He said that all the problems and demands would be prioritised and a timeline would be fixed so that people could know the time of commencement and conclusion of these works.
“Block Diwas is the best platform in India where people are being listened to and their genuine demands are met,” he said, adding that every work being taken care of need different timelines which would be framed so that the problems of the populace could be mitigated.
