Black bear kills two cows, two other animals in Uri

BARAMULLA: Baramulla: At least four domestic animals including two cows were killed by a black bear in Boniyar area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday morning.
Reports said that a black bear barged into the cowshed of a resident of Babagale Limber village in Tehsil Boniyar, in the wee hours of Monday, and killed at least four domestic animals including two cows before he was chased away by local people.
An official of the wildlife department said that after they received such a report, a team of officials was sent to the area but they had yet not come back and provided the details, because the area is very far and there is no phone network. However, he said that as per initial reports, four animals were killed.
Babagale is a village very close to the wildlife sanctuary Limber where a large number of wild animals including the famous Markhor, leopards, black and brown bears, and the famous bird, Western Tragopan, live.
There is no phone network in the area.
