Diversion tunnel of Kiru HE project completed

SRINAGAR: Work on 666 m long and 9m wide horseshoe shaped, diversion tunnel of Kiru HE Project was completed Monday ahead of schedule in spite of lockdowns in covid pandemic.
This milestone paves the way for diversion of river Chenab during October’2021followed by start of construction of 135 mtrs high Concrete Gravity Dam. Simultaneously work on Main Access Tunnel to Power House, Cable cum Ventilation Tunnel, Adit to Pressure Shaft Top and stripping of Dam Abutments are also in progress.
Kiru HE Project (624 MW) is the run of the river scheme being constructed on river Chenab in Kishtwar Distt of J&K. Foundation stone of the project was laid by Prime Minister Narendera Modi on 3rd February 2019 and the project is scheduled to be commissioned in 54 months at an estimated cost of Rs. 4287.59 Crores.
All out efforts are being made to complete the project ahead of schedule by providing Real time solution to the problems, resource mobilization and their optimum utilization with better Management and Monitoring of progress of works
