PULWAMA: The Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer has ordered an inquiry into the nonpayment of salaries and harassment of teachers by management of Muslim Education Institute (MEI) Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
In an order, a copy of which is with Kashmir Reader, the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama has constituted an inquiry committee under Tehsildar Pampore, Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din to probe the matter and furnish a detailed report within 15 days.
In the order it has been stated that a number of complaints have been received by DC office Pulwama from staff members of Muslim Education Institute (MEI) Pampore through Jahangir Hussain and others regarding harassment of the staff and non-enhancement of their legitimate salaries.
It further states that the agitated complaints are being threatened by the school authorities to take back their complaint and some of the staff members have been terminated forcibly.
“Chief Education Officer Pulwama was asked vide this office letter number DVO/ARA-20/184 Dated : 19/01/2021 to enquire into the matter and furnish factual report to this office. Chief Education Officer Pulwama submitted her report vide No. CEO/Pul/1400/21/1138-40 Dated 23/01/2021 and No. CEO/Pul/IMW/21/1158-60 dated 27-01-2021, wherein, it is inter-alia mentioned that the school management is deliberately delaying the release of legitimate salary to its staff members,” The order reads.
“It is also mentioned in her report that she has written to Director school education Kashmir, Srinagar with strong recommendations to withdraw the registration of the said Institute. Also she has requested this office to constitute a high level Committee to look into matters.”
The order further reads that a committee headed by Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din is constituted , who shall conduct a thorough enquiry into the matter and submit a report within 15 days. He will be assisted by, Soni Sanam Qureshi Principal Diet Pampore, Peer Zameer Ahmad Assistant Labour Commissioner Pulwama,Mushtaq Ahmad Dar Zonal Educational Officer Pampore
The teachers of Institute, Pampore in February held a protest demonstration in Srinagar, demanding the release of pending salaries as well as cancellation of termination orders served to them.
