Mohammad Yaqoob Malik of BJP elected as new president of MC Pampore

Pampore: BJP leader from Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Mohammad Yaqoob Malik, has been elected uncontested as new president of Municipal committee (MC) Pampore.
The post of president for Municipal Committee Pampore had fallen vacant after its ward members moved a no confidence motion against then incumbent president Bansi Lal Bhat on 9 of January.
Executive Officer Municipal Committee Pampore, Mohammad Iqbal told Kashmir Reader that they wrote District Election Officer Pulwama for holding fresh elections for the post of president for MC Pampore after Bansi Lal Bhat lost the floor test by a majority vote.
“The fresh elections were scheduled to held on 26 of January and last date for withdrawal of nominations papers was 21 of January,” he said, adding that till last date of withdrawing the nominations forms only one form from Mohammad Yaqoob Malik was received by them and as per rules he was declared elected as president for MC Pampore uncontested.
The officials told Kashmir Reader that subsequently he took oath in an impressive function in which around all ward members except Bansi Lal and his two supporters were present.
Talking to Kashmir Reader Mohammad Yaqoob Malik vowed to work for development of Saffron town Pampore.
“I will work for all round development of Saffron town including construction drains, erecting of new street lights and other projects,” he said, adding that people should bring their grievance into his notice and he will do his best to solve them.
