Handwara: The residents of a Handwara village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday staged a protest against the power development department (PDD) for non availability of electricity in their locality for months.
The residents of Ganipora langate Handwara hit the streets on Friday and staged a protest against the PDD and blamed that their area is completely under dark for months and the officers of the concerned department are not taking any serious steps to solve the problem of locals. Protesters including men and women alleged that despite paying monthly fees on time, our area is facing hardships due to non availability of electricity for months.
They blamed that concern department is only providing us electricity bills after every month but later disappear for a month. “Our children are facing hardships as the government announced online classes for all students, but when we have no electricity to charge cell phones how can they read and how can they appear in examination centres” they said.
They added that they approached the officers of the concerned department so many times but failed to provide us with the proper power supply.
The villagers said that they register a protest to take the attention of higher officials of the administration so that they can solve our problem.
