Black bear caught in Tangmarg village

Baramulla: Wildlife department on Sunday catched a black bear in Gundaripora village of Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Official sources in the department said that a black bear was roaming in the area from past few days due to which a fear was gripped among the locals of the village, he said soon after receiving its information a team of wildlife officials reached the area and after a lot of struggle, they tranquilized the black bear.
Wildlife range officer Gulmarg Naseer Ahmad Rawa confirmed that a black bear has been caught in the village and we are going to free him in the forest areas after medical checkup.
The wildlife department last week issued an alarm among the general public that after heavy snowfall the wild animals mostly black bears and leopards are coming towards the residential areas in search of food, the people should be vigilant. They told the general public to not venture outside mostly in morning and evening hours alone without proper light. They also appealed to people living along the forest areas to not visit nearby forests alone.
They said this is the season when almost all wild animals are visiting residential areas in search of food after snowfall, so people should take care about their lives.
