Two houses gutted at Boniyar Bl’a, 4 shops in Kupwara

BARAMULLA: Two residential houses were damaged in Boniyar Tehsil of Baramulla on Thursday, while another four shops were gutted in a separate fire incident in Langate area of north Kashmir’s Handwara.
Two residential houses gutted in a fire incident in Barnate village of Tehsil Boniyar, in Uri Baramulla on Thursday afternoon. The locals said that area is very far from the Baramulla and Uri so that fire service vehicles could not reach the area in time, resulting in the houses gutted completely.
Locals said that fire was broke out inside a shop and it also engulfed three other shops on Thursday morning, they said the fire tenders from Qalamabad along with police and locals of the area douse the flames and save the other properties. They added that goods worth lakhs of rupees reduced into ashes. The locals appealed the current government of Jammu and Kashmir to compensate the victims so that they can restart their business for their livelihood.
Social workers Sheikh Mubark said that people of Tehsil Boniyar, are struggling from past several decades for a single fire service vehicles and all the concerned officers including SDM Uri, DC Baramulla, Tehsildar Boniyar and other all officers has written to the higher ups of the department for a fire service vehicle for the area, however they yet not send a vehicles, with the result the people of the area are facing hardships. He said Boniyar is a Tehsil headquarter of dozens of villages on Baramulla Uri road and it is very far from the Uri and Baramulla too and the need of hour is that the department should provide a fire service vehicle for the safety of people. .
