Police, civil society, students hold anti-drug rally in Pampore

Pampore: The Jammu and Kashmir Police along with Civil Society members, youth and Students carried out a joint anti- drug abuses rally at Saffron town Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
The rally was organized by district police Awantipora. The students and youth holding banners and shouting slogans took part in large numbers and held a road show by walking from the Police station through various roads of the town.
The rally was a part of on-going anti drug week which is being observed from 15 to 22 December of the current year.
SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad, SHO Pampore, Manzoor Ahmad and Sub Inspector Adil Ahmad held a detailed interaction with the civil society members, students and youth at police station Pampore before taking out the rally.
The rally was carried out from the Police Station in Pampore and passing through national highway Kadlabal through Drangbal and Namblabal area.
During the rally, Students, Youth, Civil Society members and Police officials carried placards and banners inscribed with messages about ill effects of drugs. They also raised slogans like drug ko Khatam karo and SDPO Sahab, SHO Sahab hum tumhare sath hai.
Talking to Kashmir Reader SDPO Pampore , Imtiyaz Ahmad said that the drug abuses rally was carried out on the instructions of SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem to observe anti drug week.
“The main aim of the rally was to create awareness among people about ill effects of drugs,” he said, adding the police will continue the drive till the menace uprooted from the society.
Police Pampore also appealed to the general public to prove themselves as responsible citizens by cooperating with the police in sharing all information related to illegal use and trade of drugs.
General public of the area applauded the act of Awantipora district police and assured their cooperation in sharing all information related to illegal use of drugs in the area.
Pertinent to mention that this is the third Anti Drug rally in Police District Awantipora from the last three days earlier one was held at Tral and one at Awantipora.
