Police in Pampore arrest notorious drug peddler with cash

Locals hail role of SSP Awantipora in curbing drug menace

Pampore: Pampore Police arrested a wanted notorious drug peddler and recovered 20 grams heroin, 25 bottles codeine and 22,000 cash from his possession at Saffron town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a senior police officer told Kashmir Reader.
Acting on information police team led by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad and assisted by Station House Officer (SHO) Pampore Manzoor Ahmad placed a checking near Kadlabal Pampore and arrested a wanted notorious drug peddler Firdous Ahmad Mir @Fira Codeine, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir resident of Kadlabal Pampore.
During the checking police team recovered 20 grams of contraband psychotropic substance suspected to be heroin, 25 bottles of controlled drug Codeine Phosphate based syrup.
A cash amount of Rs 22,000 also recovered from the possession of arrested drug peddler, a police officer told Kashmir Reader.
With the arrest of the wanted notorious drug peddler, police saved the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case FIR number 98/2020 under relevant sections of NDPS stands registered at Police Station Pampore.
Senior Superintendent of Police for Awantipora Tahir Saleem told Kashmir Reader that the drug peddler was most wanted by police.
“Police had launched a man haunt for nabbing him and today we were able to apprehend him,” he said, adding that his arrest will be sigh of relief for the whole area.
Meanwhile, Idara Auqaf Islamia Trust Pampore appreciated SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem and Pampore police for the job.
“Nabbing a wanted drug peddler in saffron town Pampore is a commendable job for which we appreciated police”, Secretary general Auqaf Islamia Trust Pampore told Kashmir Reader.
Fallah Behbood Committee Pampore Chief organiser Mir Murawat Hussain told Kashmir Reader that since SSP Awantipora assumed charge as SSP Awantipora drug menace has been curbed in the Police district Awantipora to a greater extent. We are expressing over gratitude to him and SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad and SHO Pampore Manzoor Ahmad.
We expect they will continue the drive against drug trafficking till it’s completely eliminated in the area.
