Fair price shopkeepers union want revocation of advance payment order by department

SRINAGAR: All Jammu and Kashmir Fair Price Shop Dealers Union on Monday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar demanding the department of food and Civil supplies and consumers affairs to revoke the advance cash order, wherein, these dalers have been asked to make advance payments prior to any supplies being forwarded to them by the department.
The fairs price shop dealers from the various districts of the Kashmir valley assembled here in a press enclave and chanting the slogans in favour of their demands.
The protesting fair price shop dealers said that the department of food and civil supplies & consumers affairs have issued orders in which the department has asked them to deposit the advance cash for taking the ratio to the department.
Jahangeer Ahmad, one of the protesters said that we have been working in the department for the last 18 years as a fair price shop dealer. During the time of the 2014 floods and Covid-19 time. We were working as a forefront. We issued the ration to the people. So, these people will get proper relief at that time.
“We are taking ration from the department after that we deposited the money to the department. The department has issued an order in which it has mentioned, the fair price shop dealers should first deposit the money after that we can take the ration from the department,” He said.
Ahmad said that we are demanding the government to revoke this order. We are not in that position and we can provide the advance cash to the department.
They protesting fair price shop dealers requested the higher authorities to look into the matter and revoke this order.
