Srinagar: Downtown Heroes Sunday scripted Doon FC exit with a 4-2 win in the tie-breaker finish into the finals of ongoing Doon Cup.
Downtown Heroes and Doon FC gave exhibition of aggressive game coupled with solid defence. The stipulated time had nothing to choose between the two sides with a score-line of 1-1, and it needed a tie-breaker to decide the winner.
Out of allotted penalties Downtown Heroes netted all of them and Doon FC could score only twice which meant former’s entry into the summit clash.
The match began with both teams trying to dominate. However, the defence-skills of both teams made sure to keep the ball away from nets.
Auqib, the goalkeeper, held his nerves in the shootout as he saved a couple of blinders, helping Downtown Heroes FC take a lead of 4-2.
With this win, the newly-formed Downtown Heroes Football Club made it to the finals of Doon Cup.
