Chewdara residents demand additional transformer

Budgam: The local residents of Chawanpora Mohalla of village in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday demanding the Power Development Department (PDD) to provide the another transformer in the Mohalla as the old transformer are get damaged due lot of connections of the households upon the transformer
The local said that due to significant electricity connections of the people managed by this transformer it is unable to bear the load and gets damaged frequently.
Syed Rashid, one of the local residents of Cawnpore Mohalla of Chewdara village told the Kashmir Reader that due to the increase of household’s electricity connections the demand for electricity has also increased in the Mohalla.
” There is only one transformer for the locality which has nearly 80 connections of the people due to many vital parts of the transformer get damaged on a daily basis which people are buying upon their own coasts.
“On a monthly basis, we are collecting the money and are repairing this transformer and it is not possible that this repair may continue forever,” he said.
The residents’ government must provide another transformer so the problem could be solved on an immediate basis as the winter is approaching.
The local residents also requested the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Chief Engineer of PDD to look into the matter and providing of the other transformer in.
