Kupwara: An army soldier was killed while two others were injured when their post was hit by an avalanche in Karnah sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in frontier district Kupwara late Tuesday evening.
Officials said that the avalanche hit Roshan post of the Indian army in Karnah sector on Tuesday at around 8 pm. Three army soldiers were buried under the snow. Their fellow army men posted in the area rescued them and took them to a nearby hospital where one among them succumbed to his injuries. The two other injured have been hospitalised.
The deceased soldier was identified as Rifleman Nikhil Sharma, 25, of 7 Rashtriya rifles. The injured were identified as Sepoy Ramesh Chand and Sepoy Gurvinder Singh.
