Drug peddler hangs himself inside police lock-up in Sopore, dies

BARAMULLA: A drug peddler allegedly commits suicide inside a police lockup in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday night. Officials said that a 30 years old man Zamrood Ahmad Gojri son of Ghulam Mohammad Gojree a resident of Hygam Putkha was arrested by police team along with illegal drugs (200 Spasmoprovian capsules) past week and was put in the lockup after a casse registered against him under the NDPS act .
However, on Wednesday night he was found hanging inside the police lockup, the police men incharge of lockup just shifted him to nearby sub district hospital Sopore where he was declare bought dead. A police officer said that investigation has been started.
In a statement issued by the police during the intervening night of 4 and 5 November the said drug peddler Zamrood Ahmad Gojri who was arrested earlier by police post Putkhah falling under the police station Tarzoo Sopore along with Drugs (Spasmoproxivan 200-capsules) and was booked in case FIR number 110/2020 under section 8/22 NDPS Act, was found hanging inside the police lock-up. He was shifted to nearby hospital where he was declare dead. Police said the further investigation is on.
