Two militant associates held in Handwara: Police

BARAMULLA: Government forces on Friday claimed that they held two militant associates belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara.
Police said they along with army’s 21RR, and CRPF established several Naka’s at different places in Handwara and started checking vehicles.
During checking at Chinar park two people on a motorcycle bearing registration number (JK09B/1827) tried to escape from the checking spot. However, the duo was chased and arrested.
The arrested persons were identified as Liyakat Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Ahad Mir and Aqib Rashid Mir son of Ab Rashid Mir both residents of Hyen Trehgam Kupwara. During checking, arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.
Accordingly a case was registered against them.
