BARAMULLA: The several villages of Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are facing the shortage of potable drinking water for over a long time, but the concerned department who made to provide clean drinking water to people, failed to solve the problem of people in the area.
Locals said that there are over a dozen villages in this sub division who are facing acute shortage of drinking from long times and approached the concerned Jal Shakti department so many times but as of now they fail to resolve the problem, resulting in people being forced to use polluted water from nearby streams.
They said Tilgam, Wanigam, Singhpora, Gund Qasim, Andergam etc are some villages who are mostly affected but the officials of the concerned department are not paying any attention to resolve the issue.
The locals said that several water supply schemes were sanctioned for the area years ago, and work on some schemes were too started but yet not completed due to reasons best known by the concerned department.
The people appealed to the governor administration to resolve their long spending demand, so that people will not suffer in this winter.
