GDCs organise NMBA awareness progs in Bandipora

BANDIPORA: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), Degree Colleges across Bandipora district on Thursday organised a series of awareness and plantation programmes aimed at sensitising students about the harmful effects of substance abuse while promoting environmental conservation.
At HKM Govt Degree College (GDC) Bandipora, the NSS Units, in collaboration with the Literary Club, organised a counselling session for newly admitted students on substance abuse and its preventive measures. The session focused on creating awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse and preventive measures among the new entrants, encouraging them to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle from the beginning of their academic journey.
The programme was organised under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officers and Convener of the Literary Club, Prof. Sadaf Shafi. Students actively participated in the session and appreciated the initiative for providing valuable guidance and awareness.
Meanwhile, the NCORD Cell of HKM Degree College Bandipora also organised an awareness programme titled “Ek Ped Nasha Ke Viruddh” under the convenership of Prof. Irfan Ahmad Wagay. Faculty members and students participated enthusiastically in the programme, which highlighted the harmful consequences of substance abuse while promoting environmental responsibility through tree plantation. The participants reiterated the importance of adopting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle and preserving the environment.
Similarly, Government Degree College Gurez organised a plantation drive titled “Ek Ped Nashay Kay Virudh” under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan under the supervision of Principal, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir. Students and faculty members planted saplings within the college campus, symbolising their commitment towards environmental conservation and a drug-free society.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir said that every tree planted represents hope, responsibility and a pledge to safeguard nature as well as society from the menace of substance abuse. He urged students to become ambassadors of environmental stewardship and actively contribute towards the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
The plantation drive concluded with a collective pledge by participants to protect the planted saplings, preserve the environment and work together towards building a greener, healthier and addiction-free nation.
Similarly, Government Degree College Sumbal, organized a Plantation Drive titled “Ek Ped, Nashay Ke Viruddh” under the aegis of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS). The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl, Principal, Government Degree College Sumbal, with the objective of promoting environmental awareness while reinforcing the message of a drug-free society. Faculty members, NSS volunteers, and members of the NMBA Committee actively participated in the drive.
As part of the activity, saplings were planted at various locations within the college campus, symbolizing growth, hope, and a commitment to a healthier future. The participants pledged to contribute towards environmental conservation and support the vision of a healthy, sustainable, and drug-free society.
The plantation drive highlighted the strong connection between nurturing trees and nurturing a life free from substance abuse. Through this meaningful initiative, the college reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility and the creation of a healthier and more conscious society.
