Water shortage triggers protest in Sopore village

Baramulla: The people of Sadpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday staged a protest against the Jal Shakti department who according to them failed to provide them proper water supply in the area.
Eyewitness said that the score of people mostly women’s of Sadpora Sopore took into the streets on Tuesday along with pitchers staged a protest against the Jal Shakti department. Protesting people alleged that they are badly suffering for potable water from past several months and the concerned department is in deep slumber.
They said the people of the area are being forced to use the dirty water which are used for irrigating paddy fields. The protesters blocked the Sadpora Sopore road for some time.
The officials of the department was promised that they will clear their water pipes and will provide us tankers in the harsh days however, later they forget their promise and the people are facing hardships.
