Pampore: Dozens of sanitation staffers of Municipal Committee Pampore on Saturday staged a protest on the Srinagar-Jammu highway against the Executive Officer who allegedly was selective in the disbursement of salary.
The protesting employees alleged that the executive officer is a drawing and disbursing officer who released salaries of few employees close to him and left about seventy five percent without salaries which mostly include the sanitation staff.
Eyewitnesses told Kashmir Reader that the protesting sanitation employees of Municipal Committee Pampore assembled on Srinagar-Jammu highway near townhall Pampore and blocked traffic movement for some time while raising slogans against the executive officer and demanding his immediate transfer.
“ The Executive Officer Shakeel Shah does not behave well with his employees as most of the time his calls are followed by insulting words,” said Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh employee MC Pampore.
Manzoor Ahmad Pampori, another protester employee told Kashmir Reader how come is it possible that only a few employees getting handsome salaries get paid while sanitation workers who are considered backbone of the municipal committees are left in lurch
Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din and SHO Pampore Manzoor Ahmad reached the spot and assured employees to take up the issue with concerned authorities.
The protesters later took out a rally from town hall to the office of Tehsildar Pampore and sought his intervention.
We requested Tehsildar Pampore to take up the matter with higher authorities and pleaded before that an honest officer be deputed to Municipal Committee Pampore and the incumbent be transferred,” protest employees said.
Meanwhile, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Pampore Shakeel Ahmad did not comment on the allegations leveled against him.
