Youth call for dewatering of Iqbal Stadium in Pampore

PAMPORE: Youth from various areas of saffron town Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have appealed authorities for dewatering the only play field in their area.
The youth informed Kashmir Reader that a vital play ground, Iqbal stadium, in Tanchibagh Pampore has been inundated due to downpour during past couple of days.
” The ground has no exit for water which enters from three sides,” said Mohammad Adnan, a young cricketer from Pampore, adding that after rain fall the ground gets submerged.
He added that they appealed authorities multiple times for walling the ground but their pleas fell to deaf ears.
“This is an important and only play field in Pampore used for playing cricket, volley ball and other outdoor games but after getting submerged it becomes difficult for us play, “Adnan said.
Adnan told Kashmir Reader that they attempted to dewater the ground but they failed miserably because the volume of accumulated water is very large.
“We appeal Tehsildar Pampore and other authorities for dewatering the ground so that we can resume games,” he said.
Tehsildar Pampore, Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din told Kashmir Reader that he will direct executive officer Munciple Committee Pampore for dewatering the play field. Meanwhile, some families in the vicinity of the play ground appealed authorities for raising level of an alley.
The alley gets submerged in rain and it becomes difficult for commuters to walk on it, Ghulam Mohammad Sofi, a local resident said.
He appealed authorities for filling the alley with gravels and macdemising it.
