Several shops gutted in a fire incident in Kupwara

BARAMULLA: Around one dozen shops got burnt in a fire incident in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday night.
Official sources in the police said that fire broke out inside a shop in Manwan Awoora Kupwara late Thursday night and it also involved other shops within no time, resulting around one dozen shops were gutted completely while several others received minor damage in the incident.
They said the fire tenders along with Kupwara police and civilians of the area reached the spot and saved the adjoining buildings. The cause of the fire is said to be an electricity short circuit.
The local people of the area blamed that fire tenders could not reach the spot on time due to which a dozen shops including goods with lacs were gutted completely. They appealed to the administration to provide them a fire tender in the area so that rescuers could reach the spot in time in future.
Meanwhile, Kupwara police register a case under relevant sections and start its further investigation.
