No army soldier killed in Pulwama gunfight: IGP Kumar

Srinagar: Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar on Tuesday clarified that there had been no casualty on the army’s side in a gunfight at Goosu area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district in which a militant was killed.
Kumar however informed that two army men and a police personnel were injured in the gunfight.

The IGP’s clarification comes soon after a senior police officer told a news agency that one injured soldier had succumbed to the injuries.

The Tuesday’s gunfight ensued soon after a joint team of Police, Army’s 53RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Goosu village amid inputs about the presence of the militants, officials said. (GNS)
