Several unauthorised labs, clinics sealed in Sumbal

Sumbal: Authorities on Monday sealed several unauthorized private clinics running illegally in Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
The establishments including 3 USG clinics, 5 testing laboratories, and four ophthalmology clinics were sealed by a team led by Nodal officer Bandipora Dr Masrat Iqbal, police and revenue officials on the directions of CMO Bandipora.
Dr Masrat said that there had been several complaints about the said establishments running illegally prompting administration to take action against them.
The Nodal Officer informed that none of the sealed clinics could produce any proper document including license.
He further said the drive would continue and the erring establishments will not be spared.
Asked how the clinics were functioning in the first place without a proper permission, Dr Masrat said that he had recently taken charge adding notices were also issued to the medical establishment owners.
The Nodal Officer directed the owners of laboratories and clinics to maintain proper records and provide round the clock services to patients within reasonable rates issued by the Health and Medical Education Department.
Meanwhile the locals of Sonawari area of Sumbal have hailed the move by the administration and hope the drive will continue in future.
